ACTION FOR AUTISM

AAILAAN, AFA’s advocacy wing, is involved in raising awareness about autism, lobbying with the government, and networking. Occupational therapists are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team at AFA and work in coordination with the special educators. They add a vital component to the progress of the children and adults through occupational therapy assessments, planning for and implementing individualised occupational therapy, as well as being in regular communication with parents, so as to facilitate the suggestions being carried out in the home environment too. Action for Autism provides a creative platform for teachers who want to specialize in teaching persons with autism across ages and ability levels. The positions offer an enriching work experience in the classrooms, outreach programs, communication-focused programs, early intervention models, social skills programs, etc. Working in these positions continually provides fresh learning opportunities.
